Firefox 127 Strengthens Privacy With Total Cookie Protection and DNS-over-HTTPS by Default
Mozilla has released Firefox 127, enabling Total Cookie Protection and DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) by default for all users — two significant privacy improvements that reduce cross-site tracking and DNS-based surveillance. Total Cookie Protection, previously available only in Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection strict mode, is now enabled for all users by default. It works by isolating cookies to the website that created them, preventing third-party trackers from using cookies to follow users across different websites. DNS-over-HTTPS encrypts DNS queries so that internet service providers and network observers cannot see which websites you are visiting based on DNS lookups. Firefox 127 enables DoH by default using Mozilla's trusted resolver partners, with options to configure a custom resolver or disable the feature. The update also includes improvements to the tab management interface, better performance on pages with heavy JavaScript, and updated security patches. Firefox is available as a free download for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS under the MPL-2.0 license.
