Mattermost has released an AI assistant plugin that integrates with DevOps toolchains to surface relevant context directly within team channels, reducing the need to switch between tools during incidents and code reviews.
The AI assistant can summarize long threads, generate incident reports from channel history, answer questions about linked Jira tickets or GitHub pull requests, and draft runbooks based on past incident resolutions.
The plugin is built on an open architecture that supports multiple AI backends, including self-hosted models via Ollama and commercial APIs. Organizations with strict data policies can run the entire stack on-premises without any data leaving their infrastructure.
Mattermost also announced improved integrations with GitLab, GitHub Actions, PagerDuty, and Grafana, allowing alerts and deployment notifications to include richer context and actionable buttons directly in Mattermost channels.
Mattermost is available as a free self-hosted Community Edition and a paid Enterprise Edition with additional compliance and security features.
